Jessie’s Café is a successful business in Myaree and home to Barista School Perth. We also roast all our Jessie’s Café coffee beans locally on-site next-door. Here at BSP, you will gain first-hand experience from actual barista’s and roasters who are up-to-date and knowledgeable about the cafe industry and products.
Yes, we pride ourselves on delivering courses to suit all ability levels. The courses are conducted at Jessie’s Café which holds an approved Public Building Licence. Wheelchair access and disabled toilets are available on the premises.
As a boutique Barista School, all our courses are limited to 8 participants to ensure our qualified trainers can give the right amount of personal attention in a relaxed and fun environment.
As class numbers are small, we have one specialised trainer per class to deliver the course.
We have four commercial coffee machines [2x participants per machine] available to ensure you will have plenty of hands-on time to familiarise yourself with the machinery and gain practical experience.
To gain the most knowledge and practical experience, we recommend you complete our Fast introduction to the coffee world, our Coffee Fundamentals course would be the perfect selection and only runs for half a day. To work as a barista, we recommend that you complete the Fast Track barista course. This course covers the basics including origins of coffee and the roasting process, while also covering the milk texturing process, espresso brewing and grinder adjustment, and finally covering the skills and strategies needed for working in a busy café environment.
If you want to give yourself the edge with perspective employers and improve your coffee making ability, you may like to compliment this class with our Latte Art workshop (please note the Fast Track or Coffee Fundamentals is a pre-requisite to the Latte Art workshop if you have no prior coffee industry experience).
A certificate of completion will be issued for all participants completing any of our Barista School Perth courses, and will be handed to you at the end of class.
If the Coffee Fundamentals course and the Latte Art workshop are being held on the same day, then this combination would be possible, pending availability. Our Fast Track barista course is run over a full day, so must be completed on its own.
We take children high school aged and above. It really is a matter of maturity and interest. If you are unsure about your child attending, please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss.
This depends on how good you are at making coffee! We don’t offer job placements, but good baristas are always in demand worldwide. Like any new skill, practice makes perfect.
We recommend that anyone looking to work in the industry completes both the Fast Track barista course, followed by the Latte Art workshop.
We have thought about it and decided against it. A registered training organisation requires that you be taught by a qualified teacher. We think that you should be taught to make coffee by an experienced BARISTA. Our Barista’s are passionate and experienced coffee lovers. In fact, we would go as far as to say they are a little obsessed with coffee. The result is classes taught by those in the know!
Yes, an email confirmation will be sent after you have completed your booking. Please note, a friendly reminder email will be sent prior to your class. We will endeavour to send you a courtesy reminder email just prior to your class, however, please keep a copy of your order and note your class time and date. Ultimately it is your responsibility to ensure you attend your class (as per the Terms & Conditions).
You will receive a confirmation email directly from Red Balloon confirming the class date and time (as per your preferences and subject to availability). Please keep this confirmation. We will likely send you a reminder email close to the class date, however, ultimately it is your responsibility to remember!
Red Balloon bookings are subject to our Terms and Conditions. All changes will need to be made directly through Red Balloon.
All classes must be booked and paid for online through the website prior to attending the class. Payment may be made via debit/credit card using the platform provided on the website. Payment on the day of the class will not be accepted.

Our classes are non - refundable.
Changes to your booking can be made up to 48 hours before your class. You must email [email protected] Please include your full name and the class you were attending in your email.
Cancellations less than 48 hours before the scheduled class will be considered a forfeit.
We do require a minimum number of participants to run each class. If we, unfortunately, must cancel a class, we will reschedule you in the same class at a time chosen by you (subject to availability).
Please note this policy does not apply for group bookings or classes scheduled specifically to meet the needs of a group or individual.
Classes purchased on sale are transferable (if made 48 hours or more before your scheduled class) but additional charges will likely apply.

Our training room is located at the rear of Jessie’s Café (Unit 2 / 8 Hayden Court, Myaree, WA). Big hint – we are at the rear of the big Bunnings Warehouse.
We are lucky enough to have ample street and verge parking in Hayden Court and surrounding streets. We would appreciate if you left the bays directly outside Jessie’s Café free for our Café customers since you will be joining us for some time. Thanks in advance!
Please go to the counter and let our Café staff know that you have arrived. The Café staff will check off your name on the attendance list. Our Café staff will also provide class participants with a Jessie’s Café coffee of their choice to enjoy whilst they wait for the class to start.
Firstly – relax, we get it, it happens to us all from time to time! If you get a chance, we really appreciate you sending the barista trainer a text message on 0407 715 229. Please do not try to call or email. Our Barista Trainers will be busy preparing for a class or teaching your future fellow classmates, so they won’t be able to talk or check emails.

Unfortunately, we are unable to take on people for work experience at Jessie’s Cafe. We have so many amazing potential baristas coming through our Barista School we could not possibly single out just a few.
The certificate you receive at the end of your training is widely recognised and we would encourage you to promote your completion of this course to potential work experience employers. Don’t forget to put that you have completed courses at Barista School Perth on your resume!
We do not offer a job matching service, but we can suggest that you advertise your placement on the FaceBook page ‘WA Baristas’ and request that those who have completed training at Barista School Perth apply to you directly.
No, we do not. We encourage participants to look at the ‘WA Barista’s’ Facebook page and perhaps even advertise on there that they are seeking employment.
